Sayyiduna Abu Usayd al-Sa'idi (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Some people came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to dig the trench, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began taking their pledge of allegiance. When he (peace and blessings be upon him) had finished, he said: "O company of the Ansar! You will not give the pledge for emigration (hijrah), for people are to emigrate to you. Whoever presents himself before Allah Almighty in a state of loving the Ansar, then when he presents himself before Allah Almighty, Allah Almighty will love that person; and whoever presents himself before Allah Almighty in a state of hating the Ansar, that person will present himself before Allah Almighty while Allah Almighty hates him."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains the narrator Abdul Hamid bin Suhayl, whom I do not know, and the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
