It is reported about Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) that once he was sitting among a group of the Ansar. Meanwhile Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) came out to them. Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) asked them what they were talking about, and they told him: "We were talking about the Ansar." Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Shall I not tell you one more hadith that I heard from the tongue of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?" They said: "Yes indeed, O Commander of the Believers!" Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'Whoever loves the Ansar, Allah Almighty will love him; and whoever hates the Ansar, Allah Almighty will hate him.'"
Ahmad and Abu Ya'la recorded it (Abu Ya'la saying: a similar narration is reported), and al-Tabarani
recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. The narrators of Ahmad are the narrators of the Sahih.
