وَعَنْ أُمِّ هَانِئٍ قَالَتْ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " فَضَّلَ اللَّهُ قُرَيْشًا بِسَبْعِ خِصَالٍ لَمْ يُعْطَهَا أَحَدٌ قَبْلَهُمْ ، وَلَا يُعْطَاهَا أَحَدٌ بَعْدَهُمْ ، فَضَّلَ اللَّهُ قُرَيْشًا : بِأَنِّي مِنْهُمْ ، وَأَنَّ النُّبُوَّةَ فِيهِمْ ، وَأَنَّ الْحِجَابَةَ فِيهِمْ ، وَأَنَّ السِّقَايَةَ فِيهِمْ ، وَنَصَرَهُمْ عَلَى الْفِيلِ ، وَعَبَدُوا اللَّهَ عَشْرَ سِنِينَ لَا يَعْبُدُهُ غَيْرُهُمْ ، وَأَنْزَلَ فِيهِمْ سُورَةً مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ لَمْ تَنْزِلْ فِي أَحَدٍ غَيْرَهُمْ " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ مَنْ لَمْ أَعْرِفْهُ .
Sayyidah Umm Hani (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah Almighty has favoured Quraysh with seven distinctions which were not given to anyone before them and will not be given to anyone after them. Allah Almighty has favoured Quraysh in that I am from them; that prophethood is among them; that the office of hijabah (custodianship of the Ka'bah) is among them; that the office of siqayah (providing water to the pilgrims) is among them; Allah Almighty helped them against the elephants; they worshipped Allah Almighty for ten years in such a way that no one other than them worshipped Allah Almighty; and Allah Almighty revealed a surah of the Qur'an about them, and (no independent surah) was revealed about anyone other than them."
