وَعَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ : أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " مَنْ حَفِظَنِي فِي أَصْحَابِي وَرَدَ عَلَى حَوْضِي ، وَمَنْ لَمْ يَحْفَظْنِي فِي أَصْحَابِي لَمْ يَرَنِي إِلَّا مِنْ بَعِيدٍ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ حَبِيبٌ كَاتِبُ مَالِكٍ ، وَهُوَ كَذَّابٌ .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whoever guards me with regard to my Companions will come to me at my Pond (Hawd), and whoever does not guard me with regard to my Companions will see me only from afar."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains a narrator, Habib, the scribe of Imam Malik, and he is kadhdhab (a liar).
