عَنْ أَبِي رَاشِدٍ الْحُبْرَانِيِّ قَالَ : قَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ لِعَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ شِبْلٍ : إِنَّكَ مِنْ قُدَمَاءِ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - وَفُقَهَائِهِمْ ، فَإِذَا صَلَّيْتَ وَدَخَلْتَ فُسْطَاطِي فَقُمْ فِي النَّاسِ ، فَحَدِّثْهُمْ بِمَا سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - . .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَأَحْمَدُ فِي حَدِيثٍ طَوِيلٍ تَقَدَّمَ فِي مَوَاضِعِهِ ، وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ .

Abu Rashid al-Hubrani narrates: Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Shibl (may Allah be pleased with him): You are one of the early Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and one of the learned among them. When you have prayed, come into my tent, then stand among the people and narrate to them the hadiths you heard from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and Ahmad recorded it as part of a long hadith that has passed earlier in its relevant places; its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
