عَنْ شَدَّادٍ : أَنَّهُ كَانَ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - وَهُوَ يَجُودُ بِنَفْسِهِ ، فَقَالَ : " مَا لَكَ يَا شَدَّادُ ؟ " . قَالَ : ضَاقَتْ بِيَ الدُّنْيَا . قَالَ : " لَيْسَ عَلَيْكَ [ إِنَّ ] الشَّامُ تُفْتَحُ ، وَيُفْتَحُ بَيْتُ الْمَقْدِسِ ، فَتَكُونُ أَنْتَ وَوَلَدُكَ أَئِمَّةً فِيهِمْ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ جَمَاعَةٌ لَمْ أَعْرِفْهُمْ .

It is reported about Sayyiduna Shaddad (may Allah be pleased with him) that he was with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he (the Prophet) was breathing his last. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: What is the matter with you, O Shaddad? He said: The world has become narrow for me. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There is no harm upon you; Syria will be conquered, and Bayt al-Maqdis will be conquered, and you and your offspring will be leaders there.
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a group of narrators whom I do not know.
