Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "The believers in this world are of three kinds: those who believed in Allah and His Messenger and then did not fall into any doubt, and strove with their wealth and their lives in the path of Allah; (the second kind are the believers) from whom other people are safe regarding their wealth and their lives; (and the third kind are the believers) who, when something tempting appears before them, abandon it for the pleasure of Allah."
Ahmad recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Darraj, who has been declared trustworthy, though more than one scholar declared him da'if (weak).
