Sayyiduna Wa'il bin Hujr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said: "This is Wa'il bin Hujr, who has come to you. He has not come to you out of any (worldly) desire or fear; he has come to you out of love for Allah and His Messenger." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) spread out his cloak for him, seated him at his side and drew him close. Then he seated him on the pulpit, and then, addressing the people in a sermon, he said: "Be gentle with him! For his time of kingship is recent." He said: "My relatives have overpowered me regarding what is rightfully mine." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I will give that to you, and I will give you double it." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "O Wa'il bin Hujr! When you pray, place your hands opposite your ears, and a woman should place her hands opposite her chest."
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: In the two Sahihs there is a hadith from this Companion about raising the hands other than this hadith.
Al-Tabarani recorded it through Maymunah bint Hujr bin Abd al-Jabbar, from her paternal aunt Umm Yahya bint Abd al-Jabbar, and I do not know this woman; the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
