Sayyiduna Wa'il bin Hujr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: News reached us of the appearance of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while we were in a great kingdom and were obeyed. But I cast it aside and set out, longing for Allah Almighty and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). When I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had already given the Companions the glad tidings of my arrival. When I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and greeted him with peace, he returned my greeting, spread out his cloak for me and seated me on it. Then he ascended the pulpit and then seated me with him. Then he raised both his hands, praised and extolled Allah Almighty, and sent blessings upon the Prophets. The people gathered around him, and he said: "O people! This is Wa'il bin Hujr. He has come to you from a distant land of 'Hadramawt' of his own free will, not under compulsion. He longs for Allah and His Messenger, and he longs for the religion of Allah. He is from the offspring of kings." I said: "O Messenger of Allah! News of your appearance reached us while we were in power and were greatly obeyed, but I have come to you longing for the religion of Allah and His Messenger." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You have spoken the truth."
Al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains Muhammad bin Hujr, who is da'if (weak).
