وَعَنْ حُصَيْنِ بْنِ وَحْوَحٍ : أَنَّ طَلْحَةَ بْنَ الْبَرَاءِ لَمَّا لَقِيَ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، مُرْنِي بِمَا أَحْبَبْتَ فَلَا أَعْصِي لَكَ أَمْرًا . فَعَجِبَ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - لِذَلِكَ وَهُوَ غُلَامٌ ، فَقَالَ : " اذْهَبْ فَاقْتُلْ أَبَاكَ " .
قَالَ : فَخَرَجَ مُوَلِّيًا لِيَفْعَلَ ، فَدَعَاهُ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ : " أَقْبِلْ ; فَإِنِّي لَمْ أُبْعَثْ بِقَطِيعَةِ رَحِمٍ " .
فَمَرِضَ طَلْحَةُ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ ، فَأَتَاهُ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَعُودُهُ فِي الْمَسَاءِ فِي غَيْمٍ وَبَرْدٍ ، فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ قَالَ لِأَهْلِهِ : " إِنِّي لَا أَرَى طَلْحَةَ إِلَّا حَدَثَ فِيهِ الْمَوْتُ ، فَآذِنُونِي حَتَّى أَشْهَدَهُ وَأُصَلِّيَ عَلَيْهِ " . وَأَعْجَلُوا فَلَمْ يَبْلُغِ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - بَنِي سَالِمِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ حَتَّى تُوُفِّيَ ، وَجَنَّ عَلَيْهِ اللَّيْلُ ، وَكَانَ فِيمَا قَالَ طَلْحَةُ : ادْفِنُونِي وَأَلْحِقُونِي بِرَبِّي - تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى - وَلَا تَدْعُوا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - ؛ فَإِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْيَهُودَ ، وَلَا يُصَابُ فِي سَبَبِي . فَأُخْبِرَ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - حِينَ أَصْبَحَ ، فَجَاءَ حَتَّى وَقَفَ عَلَى قَبْرِهِ وَصَفَّ النَّاسَ مَعَهُ ، وَقَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ الْقَ طَلْحَةَ تَضْحَكُ إِلَيْهِ وَيَضْحَكُ إِلَيْكَ " . قُلْتُ : عِنْدَ أَبِي دَاوُدَ طَرَفٌ مِنْ آخِرِ . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَقَدْ رَوَى أَبُو دَاوُدَ بَعْضَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ وَسَكَتَ عَلَيْهِ ؛ فَهُوَ حَسَنٌ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ .
قَالَ : فَخَرَجَ مُوَلِّيًا لِيَفْعَلَ ، فَدَعَاهُ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ : " أَقْبِلْ ; فَإِنِّي لَمْ أُبْعَثْ بِقَطِيعَةِ رَحِمٍ " .
فَمَرِضَ طَلْحَةُ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ ، فَأَتَاهُ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَعُودُهُ فِي الْمَسَاءِ فِي غَيْمٍ وَبَرْدٍ ، فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ قَالَ لِأَهْلِهِ : " إِنِّي لَا أَرَى طَلْحَةَ إِلَّا حَدَثَ فِيهِ الْمَوْتُ ، فَآذِنُونِي حَتَّى أَشْهَدَهُ وَأُصَلِّيَ عَلَيْهِ " . وَأَعْجَلُوا فَلَمْ يَبْلُغِ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - بَنِي سَالِمِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ حَتَّى تُوُفِّيَ ، وَجَنَّ عَلَيْهِ اللَّيْلُ ، وَكَانَ فِيمَا قَالَ طَلْحَةُ : ادْفِنُونِي وَأَلْحِقُونِي بِرَبِّي - تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى - وَلَا تَدْعُوا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - ؛ فَإِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْيَهُودَ ، وَلَا يُصَابُ فِي سَبَبِي . فَأُخْبِرَ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - حِينَ أَصْبَحَ ، فَجَاءَ حَتَّى وَقَفَ عَلَى قَبْرِهِ وَصَفَّ النَّاسَ مَعَهُ ، وَقَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ الْقَ طَلْحَةَ تَضْحَكُ إِلَيْهِ وَيَضْحَكُ إِلَيْكَ " . قُلْتُ : عِنْدَ أَبِي دَاوُدَ طَرَفٌ مِنْ آخِرِ . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَقَدْ رَوَى أَبُو دَاوُدَ بَعْضَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ وَسَكَتَ عَلَيْهِ ؛ فَهُوَ حَسَنٌ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ .
Husayn bin Wahwah narrates: When Sayyiduna Talhah bin al-Bara' (may Allah be pleased with him) met the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he said: "O Messenger of Allah! Command me with whatever you see fit; I will not disobey any command of yours." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) liked this; that man was young at the time. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Go and kill your father." The narrator says: So he turned away in order to do so. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called him and said to him: "Come here! I have not been sent with commands to violate the rights of kinship." After that Sayyiduna Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) fell ill. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to his home in the evening to visit him; at that time it was cloudy and cold. When he was about to return, he said to Sayyiduna Talhah's (may Allah be pleased with him) family: "Concerning Talhah, my view is that the time of his death has drawn near. So inform me about it, so that I may attend his shrouding and burial and offer his funeral prayer; and hurry in this." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had not yet reached the quarter of Banu Salim bin Awf when that man passed away; by then the night had grown dark. Sayyiduna Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) had said: "Bury me and hand me over to my Lord. Do not call the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), for I fear for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) from the Jews, and I do not want any harm to befall him (peace and blessings be upon him) because of me." The next morning the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was informed about this. He (peace and blessings be upon him) came and stood by that man's grave, and the people formed rows behind him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated: "O Allah! Meet Talhah in such a state that You are smiling towards him, and he is smiling towards You." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Imam Abu Dawud has recorded the last part of this report.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; Abu Dawud recorded part of this report and remained silent about it, so, if Allah wills, this report is hasan (good).
