وَعَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ بُكَيْرٍ قَالَ : تُوُفِّيَ زَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ سَنَةَ خَمْسٍ وَأَرْبَعِينَ ، وَسِنُّهُ سِتٌّ وَخَمْسُونَ ; وَمِنَ النَّاسِ يَقُولُ : مَاتَ سَنَةَ ثَمَانٍ وَأَرْبَعِينَ وَسَنَةَ تِسْعٍ وَخَمْسِينَ ؛ لِأَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - أَجَازَهُ يَوْمَ الْخَنْدَقِ وَهُوَ ابْنُ خَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ سَنَةً ، وَالْخَنْدَقُ فِي شَوَّالٍ سَنَةَ أَرْبَعٍ ، وَقَدِ اخْتُلِفَ فِي وَفَاتِهِ . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَإِسْنَادُهُ مُنْقَطِعٌ .
Yahya bin Bukayr states: Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away in 45 AH at the age of 56. Some people say that he passed away in 48 AH at the age of 59, because when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave him permission on the occasion of the Battle of the Trench, he was fifteen years old at that time, and the Battle of the Trench took place in the month of Shawwal in 4 AH. There is disagreement about the year of the death of Sayyiduna Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him).
