وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ : كَانَ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَأْتِي دَارَ قَوْمٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ وَدُونَهُمْ دَارٌ ، فَشَقَّ ذَلِكَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَقَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، تَأْتِي دَارَ فُلَانٍ وَلَا تَأْتِي دَارَنَا ؟ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " لِأَنَّ فِي دَارِكُمْ كَلْبًا " . قَالُوا : فَإِنَّ فِي دَارِهِمْ سِنَّوْرًا ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " السِّنَّوْرُ سَبُعٌ " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَفِيهِ عِيسَى بْنُ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ ، وَقَدْ تَقَدَّمَ الْوُضُوءُ بِفَضْلِهَا .

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to a quarter of the Ansar, before which there was another quarter. The people there found this hard, and they said: O Messenger of Allah! You came to such-and-such quarter but did not come to our quarter? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The reason is that there was a dog in your quarter. The people said: But there is a cat in their quarter. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A cat is a beast of prey.
Imam Ahmad recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Isa bin al-Musayyab, and he is da'if (weak). The hadith about performing ablution with water left over by a cat (that is, from which it has drunk) has already passed.
