Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A bowl was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He ate some of it, and some was left over. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A man from the people of Paradise will come by this path and eat what is left over." Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) says: At that time I had left my brother Umayr performing ablution, and I thought it would be Umayr. But meanwhile Abdullah bin Salam came and ate it. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: A hadith about him other than this one is mentioned in the Sahih.
Ahmad, Abu Ya'la and al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains Asim bin Bahdalah, about whom there is disagreement, and the rest of their narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
