عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ : أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ لَهُ : " يَا أَبَا الْوَلِيدِ " . وَهُوَ ، بَدْرِيٌّ ، عَقَبِيٌّ ، أُحُدِيٌّ ، شَجَرِيٌّ نَقِيبٌ . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Sayyiduna Ubadah bin al-Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "O Abu al-Walid!" He is the Companion who had the honour of taking part in the Battle of Badr, the Pledge of Aqabah, the Battle of Uhud and the Pledge of Ridwan, and he was a naqib (chief representative).
