عَنْ أَبِي حَبَّةَ الْبَدْرِيِّ قَالَ : لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ لَمْ يَكُنِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ إِلَى آخِرِهَا قَالَ جِبْرِيلُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنْ رَبَّكَ يَأْمُرُكَ أَنْ تُقْرِئَهَا أُبَيًّا ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - لِأُبَيٍّ : " : إِنَّ جِبْرِيلَ أَمَرَنِي أَنْ أُقْرِئَكَ هَذِهِ السُّورَةَ " . قَالَ : إِنِّي قَدْ ذُكِرْتُ ثَمَّ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ " . قَالَ : فَبَكَى أُبَيٌّ . رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ زَيْدٍ وَهُوَ حَسَنُ الْحَدِيثِ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Sayyiduna Abu Habbah al-Badri (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When the surah "Those who disbelieved among the People of the Book were not" was revealed to its end, Sayyiduna Jibril (peace be upon him) said: "O Messenger of Allah! Your Lord commands you to recite it to Ubayy." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyiduna Ubayy (may Allah be pleased with him): "Jibril has instructed me to recite this surah to you." Sayyiduna Ubayy (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: "O Messenger of Allah! Was I mentioned there?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "Yes!" Then Sayyiduna Ubayy (may Allah be pleased with him) began to weep.
Ahmad and al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Ali bin Zayd, who is hasan al-hadith (good in hadith), and the rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
