وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " عَلِيٌّ أَصْلِي ، وَجَعْفَرٌ فَرْعِي - أَوْ جَعْفَرٌ أَصْلِي وَعَلِيٌّ فَرْعِي - " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ مَنْ لَمْ أَعْرِفْهُمْ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Ali is my root and Ja'far is my branch. (The narrator is unsure, or perhaps the words are:) Ja'far is my root and Ali is my branch."
