بَابُ مَنَاقِبِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ - رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ -
Virtues of Ja'far bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him)
Majma al-Zawaid 15494 — Virtues of Ja'far bin Abi Talib
وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " إِنَّ جَعْفَرَ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ مَرَّ مَعَ جِبْرِيلَ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - وَمِيكَائِيلَ ، لَهُ جَنَاحَانِ عَوَّضَهُ اللَّهُ مِنْ يَدَيْهِ - فَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ أَخْبَرَنِي كَيْفَ كَانَ أَمْرُهُ حَيْثُ لَقِيَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ ، فَلِذَلِكَ سُمِّيَ جَعْفَرٌ الطَّيَّارَ فِي الْجَنَّةِ " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ سَعْدَانُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ وَلَمْ أَعْرِفْهُ وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Ja'far bin Abi Talib passed by along with Jibril and Mika'il. He has two wings; Allah Almighty has given him these wings in exchange for his two arms. He greeted me with salam, and then he told me what he went through when he faced the polytheists. It is for this reason that in Paradise he has been named 'Ja'far al-Tayyar' (Ja'far the Flyer)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Sa'dan bin al-Walid, whom I do not know, and the remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).
