بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي الْعَبَّاسِ عَمِّ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - وَمَنْ جُمِعَ مَعَهُ مِنْ وَلَدِهِ
Reports on al-Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), paternal uncle of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and those of his children mentioned with him

وَعَنِ الْهَيْثَمِ بْنِ عَدِيٍّ قَالَ : هَلَكَ الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ قَبْلَ أَبِيهِ بِأَرْبَعِ سِنِينَ ، سَنَةَ ثَمَانٍ وَعِشْرِينَ .
وَقَدِ اخْتَلَفُوا فِي مَوْتِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ ، فَقَالَ بَعْضُ النَّاسِ : اسْتُشْهِدَ بِالشَّامِ يَوْمَ أَجْنَادِينَ ، وَقِيلَ : يَوْمَ مَرْجِ الصُّفَّرِ ، وَكَانَ الْيَوْمَانِ جَمِيعًا سَنَةَ ثَلَاثَ عَشْرَةَ ، وَيُقَالُ : اسْتُشْهِدَ يَوْمَ الْيَرْمُوكِ سَنَةَ خَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ ، وَيُقَالُ : مَاتَ فِي طَاعُونِ عَمَوَاسٍ سَنَةَ ثَمَانِ عَشْرَةَ ، وَتُوُفِّيَ وَهُوَ ابْنُ إِحْدَى وَعِشْرِينَ سَنَةً . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَالْهَيْثَمُ مَتْرُوكٌ .

Al-Haytham bin Adi says: Sayyiduna al-Fadl bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) passed away four years before his father, in 28 AH. People have differed about the death of Sayyiduna al-Fadl bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): some say that he was martyred in Syria at the battle of Ajnadayn; one view is that he was martyred at the battle of Marj al-Suffar, and both these events took place in 13 AH; according to another view he was martyred at the battle of Yarmuk in 15 AH; and it has also been said that he died in the plague of Amwas in 18 AH. At the time of his death he was 21 years old.
