It is reported from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him) that they narrate: Sayyidah Durrah bint Abi Lahab (may Allah be pleased with her) came as an emigrant and took up residence in the quarter (or house) of Rafi' bin al-Mu'alla al-Zuraqi. Some women from Banu Zurayq who were sitting with her said to her: You are the daughter of that Abu Lahab about whom Allah Almighty said: "Perish the two hands of Abu Lahab! His wealth and what he earned did not avail him." What they meant was: of what use will your emigration be to you? Sayyidah Durrah (may Allah be pleased with her) came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and complained to him of what those women had said. the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) told her to calm down and said: Sit down. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led the people in the Zuhr prayer, then sat on the pulpit (minbar) for a while and said: "What is the reason that I am hurt concerning my family (that is, my relatives)? By Allah! My intercession will reach even the people of the tribes of Ha', Hakam, Suda and Salhab on the Day of Resurrection."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration; its chain contains a narrator, Abd al-Rahman bin Bashir al-Dimashqi, whom Ibn Hibban declared trustworthy and Abu Hatim called da'if (weak). The remaining narrators of this narration are thiqat (trustworthy).
