Mus'ab bin Abdullah and others from Quraysh narrate that Sayyidah Atikah bint Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with her) composed these verses about the truth of her dream and Quraysh calling her a liar, when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) defeated Quraysh at Badr. (The verses are as follows:) "Was that dream not true, whose interpretation was brought by one who turned and fled from the people? He saw, then he brought you the certainty that he had seen with his own eyes; the sharp-edged swords do not lie. You said, 'You have lied,' though I had not lied; only one who is himself a liar will call me a liar regarding the truth. That fleeing man fled only out of fear of death; he was the sensible one among them, for whom the paths had become narrow. Did the one who cried out to summon the people flee from the resolve of their hearts? These are mere desires, and dreams that have no home. They came against your lives with sharp-edged swords, as a cloud comes from the south. What did they see on the day they faced Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), they who are his cousins, and in war there are ups and downs? Did Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) not cover them with a blow at whose fall the coward is left bewildered and the stars appear in daytime? On the day of facing Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), did this situation not come, when the aid of war tore at the shoulders? Their swords stood out through inner fervour as a violent wind comes, though before there was fever in them. I have sworn that if you do this again, they will uproot you and push you aside, with attackers on both its flanks. It seems as though the light of the sun, with the gleam of its rays, holds light on both sides: one is a ray, and the other a piercing meteor."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration, and its narrators are hasan (good), but its chain is munqati' (broken).
