وَعَنْ أَبِي بَرْزَةَ قَالَ : كَانَ لِلنَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - تِسْعُ نِسْوَةٍ ، فَقَالَ يَوْمًا : " خَيْرُكُنَّ أَطْوَلُكُنَّ يَدًا " . فَقَامَتْ كُلُّ وَاحِدَةٍ تَضَعُ يَدَهَا عَلَى الْجِدَارِ ، فَقَالَ : " لَسْتُ أَعْنِي هَذَا ، وَلَكِنْ أَصْنَعُكُنَّ يَدَيْنِ " . رَوَاهُ أَبُو يَعْلَى ، وَإِسْنَادُهُ حَسَنٌ ; لِأَنَّهُ يَعْتَضِدُ بِمَا يَأْتِي .
Sayyiduna Abu Barzah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had nine wives. He said: The best of you is the one whose hand is the longest. Each one of them stood up and measured her hand by placing it on the wall. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I did not mean this; rather, I meant the one who does the most work with her two hands (and gives the earnings in charity).
