وَعَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّهُ لَمَّا نَزَلَ عُذْرُهَا قَبَّلَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَأْسَهَا ، فَقَالَتْ : أَلَا عَذَرْتَنِي ؟ فَقَالَ : أَيُّ سَمَاءٍ تُظِلُّنِي ، وَأَيُّ أَرْضٍ تُقِلُّنِي إِنْ قُلْتُ مَا لَا أَعْلَمُ . رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: When the ruling of her vindication was revealed, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) kissed her head. Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "Why did you not declare me innocent before?" Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Which sky would shade me and which earth would bear me, if I were to say something of which I have no knowledge?"
