Ibn Abi Layla said: When Sayyiduna Husayn bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) realised that he would be martyred, he said: "Bring me a garment in which no one has any interest (that is, something of no value), so that I may put it beneath my clothes and not be stripped." He was told: "There is a loincloth." He said: "No, that is the garment of one upon whom humiliation has been imposed." Then he took a garment and tied it beneath his clothes. When he was martyred, the people stripped off his clothes.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators up to the one who said it are thiqat (trustworthy).
