Majma al-Zawaid 14987 — The virtue of the Ahl al-Bayt
وَعَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ : أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - جَاءَ إِلَى بَابِ عَلِيٍّ - رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ - أَرْبَعِينَ صَبَاحًا بَعْدَمَا دَخَلَ عَلَى فَاطِمَةَ ، فَقَالَ : " السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ ، إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ مَنْ لَمْ أَعْرِفْهُمْ .

Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: After Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) was sent to her husband's home, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) kept coming to the door of Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) for forty days, saying: "Peace be upon you, O People of the House, and the mercy of Allah Almighty and His blessings. O People of the House! Allah Almighty intends to remove impurity from you and to purify you thoroughly."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its chain contains narrators whom I do not know.
