Sayyiduna Miswar bin Makhramah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) sold an orchard to Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) for forty thousand dinars. Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) instructed Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Sa'd bin Abi Sarh (may Allah be pleased with him) to pay him the price, and Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman (may Allah be pleased with him) distributed that price among Banu Zuhrah, the poor Muslims and the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Sayyiduna Miswar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I came to Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), and she asked: "Where has this money come from?" I said: "Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) has sent it." Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "After me, only those who are patient will look after you. May Allah Almighty give Ibn Awf to drink from (the spring of) Salsabil in Paradise."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its chain is hasan (good).
