وَعَنْ بُسْرَةَ بِنْتِ صَفْوَانَ : أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - سَأَلَهَا : " مَنْ يَخْطُبُ أُمَّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتَ عُقْبَةَ ؟ " قَالَتْ : فُلَانٌ وَفُلَانٌ وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ فَقَالَ : " أَنْكِحُوا عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْفٍ فَإِنَّهُ مِنْ خِيَارِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ ، وَمِنْ خِيَارِهِمْ مَنْ كَانَ مِثْلَهُ .
Sayyidah Busrah bint Safwan (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked her: "Who has sent a marriage proposal to Umm Kulthum bint Uqbah?" She said: "So-and-so, so-and-so, and Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him)." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Marry her to Abd al-Rahman bin Awf, for he is one of the best of the Muslims, and among the best of them is whoever is like him."
