Harith al-A'war al-Hamdani narrates: I was with Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) when a son of Sayyiduna Talhah bin Ubaydullah (may Allah be pleased with him) came to him. Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: "O my nephew! Welcome to you; come here!" Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) seated him beside himself and then said: "By Allah! I hope that your father and I will be among those about whom Allah Almighty has said: 'And We will remove whatever rancour is in their breasts.'"
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains al-Harith, whom the majority declared weak, though he has also been declared trustworthy. The rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
