وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سُبَيْعٍ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَلِيًّا - عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ - يَقُولُ : لَتُخَضَّبَنَّ هَذِهِ مِنْ هَذِهِ ، فَمَا يَنْتَظِرُ بِيَ الْأَشْقَى ؟ قَالُوا : يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ، فَأَخْبِرْنَا بِهِ نُبِيرُ عِتْرَتَهُ قَالَ : إِذًا تَقْتُلُونَ بِي غَيْرَ قَاتِلِي . قَالُوا : فَاسْتَخْلِفْ عَلَيْنَا قَالَ : لَا وَلَكِنْ أَتْرُكُكُمْ إِلَى مَا تَرَكَكُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالُوا : فَمَاذَا تَقُولُ لِرَبِّكَ إِذَا أَتَيْتَهُ ؟ قَالَ : أَقُولُ : اللَّهُمَّ تَرَكْتَنِي فِيهِمْ مَا بَدَا لَكَ ، ثُمَّ قَبَضْتَنِي إِلَيْكَ وَأَنْتَ فِيهِمْ ؛ فَإِنْ شِئْتَ أَصْلَحْتَهُمْ ، وَإِنْ شِئْتَ أَفْسَدْتَهُمْ .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَأَبُو يَعْلَى ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ غَيْرَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سُبَيْعٍ ، وَهُوَ ثِقَةٌ . وَرَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ بِإِسْنَادٍ حَسَنٍ .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَأَبُو يَعْلَى ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ غَيْرَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سُبَيْعٍ ، وَهُوَ ثِقَةٌ . وَرَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ بِإِسْنَادٍ حَسَنٍ .
Abdullah bin Subay' narrates: I heard Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) saying: "This will be dyed by that, and only the most wretched person is waiting for me." The people said: "O Commander of the Faithful! Tell us about him, and we will wipe out his very lineage." Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "In that case you would be killing someone other than my killer." The people said: "Appoint someone as your deputy over us." Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "No; rather, I will leave you in the same state in which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) left you." The people asked: "When you go into the presence of your Lord, what will you say in the presence of your Lord?" Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I will say: 'O Allah! You let me remain among them for as long as You saw fit; then You took me to Yourself, but You are among them. If You will, keep them upright, and if You will, let them be ruined.'"
Ahmad and Abu Ya'la recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except Abdullah bin Subay', who is thiqah (trustworthy).
Al-Bazzar recorded it with a hasan (good) chain.
