وَعَنْهُ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - لِعَلِيٍّ - رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ - : " إِنَّكَ امْرُؤٌ مُسْتَخْلَفٌ ، وَإِنَّكَ مَقْتُولٌ ، وَهَذِهِ مَخْضُوبَةٌ مِنْ هَذِهِ " . - يَعْنِي لِحْيَتَهُ مِنْ رَأْسِهِ - .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ وَالْأَوْسَطِ بِنَحْوِهِ ، وَفِيهِ نَاصِحُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكٌ .

It is reported from him that he said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him): "You are a man who will be made caliph, and you will be killed, and this will be dyed from this," meaning that his beard (would be dyed with the blood) of his head.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat with similar wording. Its chain contains Nasih bin Abdullah, who is matruk (abandoned).
