Jurayy bin Samurah narrates: When there occurred between the people of Basrah and Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) what occurred, I set out and came to Madinah. I went to Sayyidah Maymunah bint al-Harith (may Allah be pleased with her), who was from Banu Hilal, and greeted her with salam. She asked: "Where are you from?" I said: "From the people of Iraq." She asked: "Which of the people of Iraq?" I replied: "From the people of Kufa." She asked: "Which of the people of Kufa?" I replied: "From Banu Amir." She said: "Welcome! You are kin upon kin, and welcome upon welcome! What brings you here?" I said: "There is what there is between Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him), so I went and pledged allegiance to Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him)." Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "Stay with him. By Allah, he will neither go astray nor lead astray." Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) said this three times.
Al-Tabarani recorded this narration, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except Jurayy bin Samurah, and he is thiqah (trustworthy).
