Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 14738

Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I was sitting in the mosque, I and two men with me, and we began to criticise Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). Meanwhile the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came, in a state of anger, with the anger showing on his face. I sought refuge in Allah from the anger of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What business do you have with me? Whoever hurts Ali has hurt me."
Abu Ya'la recorded this narration, and al-Bazzar recorded it in abridged form. The narrators of Abu Ya'la are the narrators of the Sahih, except Mahmud bin Khidash and Qanan, and both of them are thiqah (trustworthy).
