بَابٌ فِي قَوْلِهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " لَأُعْطِيَنَّ الرَّايَةَ رَجُلًا يُحِبُّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَيُحِبُّهُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ " .
The saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "I will give the banner to a man who loves Allah and His Messenger, and Allah and His Messenger love him"

عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ : جَاءَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّ الْيَهُودَ قَتَلُوا أَخِي قَالَ : " لَأَدْفَعَنَّ الرَّايَةَ إِلَى رَجُلٍ يُحِبُّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولِهِ وَيُحِبُّهُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولِهِ ، يَفْتَحُ اللَّهُ عَلَى يَدَيْهِ ، فَيُمَكِّنُكَ مِنْ قَاتِلِ أَخِيكَ " . فَاسْتَشْرَفَ لِذَلِكَ أَصْحَابُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَبَعَثَ إِلَى عَلِيٍّ فَعَقَدَ لَهُ اللِّوَاءَ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنِّي أَرْمَدُ كَمَا تَرَى - وَهُوَ يَوْمَئِذٍ رَمَدٌ - فَتَفَلَ فِي عَيْنَيْهِ فَمَا رَمَدَتْ بَعْدَ يَوْمِهِ فَمَضَى .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَهْلِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْبَاهِلِيُّ وَلَمْ أَعْرِفْهُ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَهْلِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْبَاهِلِيُّ وَلَمْ أَعْرِفْهُ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: A man from the Ansar came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and submitted: O Messenger of Allah, the Jews have martyred my brother. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I will give the banner to a man who loves Allah and His Messenger, and Allah and His Messenger love him. Allah Almighty will grant victory at his hands, and He will give you power over your brother's killer." (The narrator says:) The Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained eager for this. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent for Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and tied the banner for him. He submitted: O Messenger of Allah, as you can see, I am suffering from eye inflammation. The narrator says: At that time he had eye inflammation. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) put his saliva in his eyes, and after that he had no further complaint, and then he set off.
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Ahmad bin Sahl bin Ali al-Bahili, whom I do not know; the remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).
