عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ - يَعْنِي ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ - قَالَ : كُنَّا نَتَحَدَّثُ أَنَّ أَفْضَلَ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ .
رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ ، وَفِيهِ يَحْيَى بْنُ السَّكَنِ ، وَثَّقَهُ ابْنُ حِبَّانَ وَضَعَّفَهُ صَالِحٌ جَزَرَةٌ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .
رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ ، وَفِيهِ يَحْيَى بْنُ السَّكَنِ ، وَثَّقَهُ ابْنُ حِبَّانَ وَضَعَّفَهُ صَالِحٌ جَزَرَةٌ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We used to say among ourselves that the most virtuous person among the people of Madinah was Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him).
Al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains Yahya bin al-Sakan, whom Ibn Hibban declared thiqah (trustworthy) and Salih Jazarah declared da'if (weak); the remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).
