وَعَنْ عَلِيٍّ : أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " خَلَّفْتُكَ أَنْ تَكُونَ خَلِيفَتِي " . قَالَ : أَتَخَلَّفُ عَنْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " أَمَا تَرْضَى أَنْ تَكُونَ مِنِّي بِمَنْزِلَةِ هَارُونَ مِنْ مُوسَى ؟ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ لَا نَبِيَّ بَعْدِي " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .

Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I am leaving you behind so that you may be my deputy." Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "O Messenger of Allah! Am I to stay behind from you?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Are you not pleased to be to me as Sayyiduna Harun (peace be upon him) was to Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him), except that there will be no prophet after me?"
