عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ : أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْفٍ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا ، فَقَالَ : يَا أُمَّهْ ، قَدْ خِفْتُ أَنْ يُهْلِكَنِي مَالِي ، أَنَا أَكْثَرُ قُرَيْشٍ مَالًا قَالَتْ : يَا بُنَيَّ ، فَانْفِقْ ; فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ مِنْ أَصْحَابِي مَنْ لَا يَرَانِي بَعْدَ أَنْ أُفَارِقَهُ " . فَخَرَجَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ فَلَقِيَ عُمَرَ فَأَخْبَرَهُ بِالَّذِي قَالَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ ، فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا عُمَرُ فَقَالَ : بِاللَّهِ ، مِنْهُمْ أَنَا ؟ فَقَالَتْ : لَا . وَلَا أُبَرِّئُ أَحَدًا بَعْدَكَ .
رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .

It is reported about Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her): Once Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) came to her and said: O Mother! I fear that my wealth will destroy me, for I have more wealth than anyone in Quraysh. Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: O my son! Spend it, for I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Among my Companions is one who, after I part from him, will not see me again." Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) left and met Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), and told Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) what Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) had said. So Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) and said: I ask you by Allah, am I one of them? Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: No! But I will not declare anyone free of it after you.
