Sayyiduna Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Umar! Jibril came to me just now, and I said: O Jibril, tell me about the virtues of Umar bin al-Khattab in the heavens. He replied: O Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)! If I were to keep describing to you the virtues of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) for as long as Sayyiduna Nuh (peace be upon him) remained among his people, that is, a thousand years less fifty, the virtues of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) would still not be exhausted. (Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, or perhaps Sayyiduna Jibril said:) And Umar is one of the good deeds of Abu Bakr."
Imam Abu Ya'la recorded it, and Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains a narrator, al-Walid bin al-Fadl al-Anazi, who is extremely da'if (weak).
