وَعَنْ أَسْعَدَ بْنِ زُرَارَةَ قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - خَطَبَ النَّاسَ ، فَالْتَفَتَ الْتِفَاتَةً فَلَمْ يَرَ أَبَا بَكْرٍ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " أَبُو بَكْرٍ ، أَبُو بَكْرٍ ، إِنَّ رُوحَ الْقُدُسِ جِبْرِيلَ - عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ - أَخْبَرَنِي آنِفًا : أَنَّ خَيْرَ أُمَّتِكَ بَعْدَكَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقُ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ أَبُو غَزِيَّةَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .

Sayyiduna As'ad bin Zurarah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) address the people. He looked around and did not see Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Abu Bakr, Abu Bakr! The Holy Spirit, Jibril, has just told me that the best of your Ummah after you is Abu Bakr al-Siddiq.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains a narrator, Abu Ghaziyyah Muhammad bin Musa, and he is da'if (weak).
