وَبِسَنَدِهِ عَنْ يَعْلَى قَالَ : بَيْنَا نَحْنُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فِي مَسِيرٍ إِذَا نَحْنُ بِثَلَاثِ أَشَاءَاتٍ مُتَفَرِّقَاتٍ ، فَقَالَ : " يَا يَعْلَى ، اذْهَبْ إِلَى تِلْكَ الْأَشَاءَاتِ فَقُلْ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَأْمُرُكُنَّ أَنْ تَجْتَمِعْنَ بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ " . فَمَشَيْنَ حَتَّى صِرْنَ فِي أَصْلٍ وَاحِدٍ ، فَاسْتَتَرَ بِهِنَّ لِبَعْضِ حَاجَتِهِ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " يَا يَعْلَى ، انْطَلِقْ إِلَيْهِنَّ فَأْمُرْهُنَّ أَنْ يَرْجِعْنَ بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ " . فَمَشَيْنَ حَتَّى رَجَعَتْ كُلُّ وَاحِدَةٍ إِلَى مَوْقِفِهَا .

With the same chain, it is transmitted from Sayyiduna Ya'la (may Allah be pleased with him): "Once we were travelling with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and three small date palms came before us, which were apart from one another. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Go to these three trees and say to them: The Messenger of Allah instructs you to come together by the command of Allah.' So they came walking and became like a single root. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) screened himself with them to relieve himself. Then he said: 'O Ya'la, go to them and instruct them to go back by the command of Allah.' So they went walking, until each one of them went back to its own place."
