وَعَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ : لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ : ( وَأَنْذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ الْأَقْرَبِينَ ) قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " يَا عَلِيُّ ، اصْنَعْ رِجْلَ شَاةٍ بِصَاعٍ مِنْ طَعَامٍ ، وَاجْمَعْ لِي بَنِي هَاشِمٍ " . وَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ أَرْبَعُونَ رَجُلًا أَوْ أَرْبَعُونَ غَيْرَ رَجُلٍ . قَالَ : فَدَعَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - بِالطَّعَامِ فَوَضَعَهُ بَيْنَهُمْ ، فَأَكَلُوا حَتَّى شَبِعُوا ، وَإِنَّ مِنْهُمْ لَمَنْ يَأْكُلُ الْجَذَعَةَ بِإِدَامِهَا ، ثُمَّ تَنَاوَلَ الْقَدَحَ فَشَرِبُوا مِنْهُ حَتَّى رَوَوْا - يَعْنِي مِنَ اللَّبَنِ - فَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ : مَا رَأَيْنَا كَالسِّحْرِ ، يَرَوْنَ أَنَّهُ أَبُو لَهَبٍ الَّذِي قَالَهُ . فَقَالَ : " يَا عَلِيُّ اصْنَعْ ، رِجْلَ شَاةٍ بِصَاعٍ مِنْ طَعَامٍ وَأَعْدِدْ قَعْبًا مِنْ لَبَنٍ " . قَالَ : فَفَعَلْتُ ، فَأَكَلُوا كَمَا أَكَلُوا فِي الْيَوْمِ الْأَوَّلِ ، وَشَرِبُوا كَمَا شَرِبُوا فِي الْمَرَّةِ الْأُولَى ، وَفَضَلَ كَمَا فَضَلَ فِي الْمَرَّةِ الْأُولَى ، فَقَالَ : مَا رَأَيْنَا كَالْيَوْمِ فِي السِّحْرِ . فَقَالَ : " يَا عَلِيُّ اصْنَعْ رِجْلَ شَاةٍ بِصَاعٍ مِنْ طَعَامٍ وَأَعْدِدْ قَعْبًا مِنْ لَبَنٍ " . فَفَعَلْتُ . فَقَالَ : " يَا عَلِيُّ اجْمَعْ لِي بَنِي هَاشِمٍ " . فَجَمَعْتُهُمْ فَأَكَلُوا وَشَرِبُوا فَبَدَرَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَقَالَ : " أَيُّكُمْ يَقْضِي عَنِّي دَيْنِي ؟ " . قَالَ : فَسَكَتَ ، وَسَكَتَ الْقَوْمُ ، فَأَعَادَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - الْمَنْطِقَ فَقُلْتُ : أَنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ . فَقَالَ : " أَنْتَ يَا عَلِيُّ ، أَنْتَ يَا عَلِيُّ " . رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ ، وَأَحْمَدُ بِاخْتِصَارٍ ، وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ بِاخْتِصَارٍ أَيْضًا ، وَرِجَالُ أَحْمَدَ وَأَحَدُ إِسْنَادَيِ الْبَزَّارِ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ غَيْرَ شَرِيكٍ وَهُوَ ثِقَةٌ .
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When this verse was revealed: "And warn your nearest relatives!", the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Ali! Cook a leg of goat with a sa' of grain, and gather Banu Hashim for me." At that time their number was forty, or one short of forty. The narrator says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called for the food and placed it in front of them. They ate it and were full, although among them was a person who could eat an entire jadh'ah (young animal) along with its curry. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed the cup, and they drank from it until they were satisfied; the narrator says: that is, they were satisfied by drinking milk. Some of them said: "We have never seen magic like this." The narrators think that it was Abu Lahab who said this. (The next day) the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Ali! Prepare a leg of goat with a sa' of grain, and prepare a cup of milk." The narrator says: Those people ate just as they had eaten on the first day, and drank just as they had drunk the first time, and still the food remained just as it had remained the first time. They said the same: "We have not seen magic like today's." (Then one day) the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Ali! Prepare a leg of goat with a sa' of grain, and get a vessel of milk ready." So I did so. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Ali! Gather Banu Hashim for me." I gathered them, and they ate and drank. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to them and said: "Which of you will pay off my debt on my behalf?" The narrator says: I remained silent, and the people also remained silent. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) repeated his words, and I said: "O Messenger of Allah! I will." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You, O Ali! You, O Ali!"
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and these words of the narration are his; Ahmad recorded it in abridged form, and al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat in abridged form. The narrators of Ahmad and of one of al-Bazzar's two chains are the narrators of the Sahih, except Sharik, and he is thiqah (trustworthy).
