وَعَنْ مُعَاذٍ - يَعْنِي ابْنَ جَبَلٍ - قَالَ : كُنْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فِي سَفَرٍ فَأَرْدَفَنِي خَلْفَهُ فَمَا مَسِسْتُ شَيْئًا قَطُّ أَلْيَنَ مِنْ جِلْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - وَلَا وَجَدْتُ رَائِحَةً أَطْيَبَ مِنْ رَائِحَةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ . فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ وَالْبَزَّارُ بِنَحْوِهِ ، وَفِيهِ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ وَقَدْ وُثِّقَ عَلَى ضَعْفِهِ .
Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I was travelling with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on a journey, and he had seated me behind him (on his mount). I have never touched anything softer than the skin of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), nor have I found any fragrance purer than the fragrance of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). After this the narrator mentioned the complete hadith.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it, and Imam al-Bazzar recorded something similar; its chain contains a narrator, al-Hasan bin Abi Ja'far, who has been declared trustworthy despite his weakness.
