Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 1403

Al-Hakam bin Utaybah narrated this from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him): "For the traveller the period is three days and three nights, and for the resident one day and one night." The narrator al-Hakam did not hear from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), nor did he hear from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him); in addition, the chain of this report contains al-Hajjaj bin Artah.
