Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 13965

Sayyiduna Abu Tha'labah al-Khushani (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Whenever the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned from a journey, he would first come to the mosque and pray two rak'ahs there, then he would go to Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), and then he would meet his wives. Once he returned from a journey, prayed two rak'ahs, and then came to Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her). Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) met him at the door of the house, and, weeping, she kissed the cheek and eyes of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Why are you weeping? She said: I see you (peace and blessings be upon him) with dishevelled hair and exhausted, and your clothes are becoming worn out. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not weep! For Allah Almighty has sent your father with a matter such that Allah Almighty will not leave any house, of mud or brick, or any tent, on the face of the earth, without bringing into it, through this (religion), either honour or humiliation, until this religion reaches wherever the night reaches.
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Yazid bin Sinan Abu Farwah, and he is muqarib al-hadith (passable in hadith), although there is a great deal of weakness in him.
