Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 13797

Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him) states: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to his Companions: "Allah Almighty took the soul of Sayyiduna Dawud (peace be upon him) from among his companions, and they were neither tried nor did they make any change; and the companions of Sayyiduna al-Masih (peace be upon him) remained upon his way and guidance for two hundred years."
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy), though there is disagreement about some of them.
