عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " إِنِّي لَأَرْجُو إِنْ طَالَ بِي عُمْرٌ أَنْ أَلْقَى عِيسَى بْنَ مَرْيَمَ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَإِنْ عَجَّلَ بِي مَوْتٌ فَمَنْ لَقِيَهُ مِنْكُمْ فَلْيُقْرِئْهُ مِنِّي السَّلَامَ " . رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ مَرْفُوعًا وَمَوْقُوفًا وَرِجَالُهُمَا رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I hope that if my life is prolonged I will meet Sayyiduna Isa bin Maryam (peace be upon him). If death comes to me early, then whoever among you meets him should convey my greeting of peace to him."
Ahmad recorded it both as marfu' and as mawquf, and the narrators of both are the narrators of the Sahih.
