وَعَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَمْسَحُ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ وَالْخِمَارِ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ الصَّلْتُ بْنُ دِينَارٍ ، وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكٌ .

Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wiping over the leather socks and the head-covering.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, al-Salt bin Dinar, and he is matruk (abandoned).
