Wiping over the leather socks

وَعَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ : مَرَّ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - عَلَى رَجُلٍ يَتَوَضَّأُ فَغَسَلَ خُفَّيْهِ ، فَنَخَسَهُ بِرِجْلِهِ وَقَالَ : " لَيْسَ هَكَذَا السُّنَّةُ ، أُمِرْنَا بِالْمَسْحِ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ هَكَذَا " وَأَمَرَّ يَدَيْهِ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَقَالَ : تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ بَقِيَّةُ .

Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a man who was performing ablution, and he washed his leather socks as well. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) nudged him with his foot and said: "This is not the Sunnah; we have been commanded to wipe over the leather socks like this." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said this while passing both his hands over both leather socks.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat and stated: Baqiyyah is alone in narrating it.
