Sayyiduna al-Miqdad bin al-Aswad (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked his Companions: What do you say about adultery (zina)? They said: It is unlawful; Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) have made it unlawful, so it will remain unlawful until the Day of Resurrection. The narrator says: Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to his Companions: "For a man to commit adultery with ten women would be lighter for him than to commit adultery with his neighbour's wife." The narrator says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: What do you say about theft? They said: Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) have made it unlawful, so it is unlawful. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "For a man to steal from ten houses would be lighter for him than to steal from his neighbour's house."
Ahmad recorded it, and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
