Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 13362

Sayyiduna Abu Umamah al-Bahili (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Nine angels have been appointed over the sun, who throw snow upon it every day. Were it not for this, the sun would burn up whatever it came upon."
Al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Ufayr bin Ma'dan, who is extremely da'if (weak).
