Majma al-Zawaid 13327 — Some poetry is wisdom and some eloquence

Sayyiduna Amr bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Indeed, some poetry is wisdom."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains Kathir bin Abdullah bin Amr bin Awf, whom the majority declared da'if (weak), while al-Tirmidhi graded his hadith hasan (good). The rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
