بَابُ إِنَّ مِنَ الشِّعْرِ حِكْمَةً وَإِنَّ مِنَ الْبَيَانِ سِحْرًا
Some poetry is wisdom and some eloquence is magic
Majma al-Zawaid 13324 — Some poetry is wisdom and some eloquence
عَنْ بُرَيْدَةَ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " إِنَّ مِنَ الشِّعْرِ حِكْمَةً " . رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ ، وَفِيهِ حُسَامُ بْنُ مِصَكٍّ ، وَهُوَ مُجْمَعٌ عَلَى ضَعْفِهِ .
Sayyiduna Buraydah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Some poetry is wisdom."
Al-Bazzar recorded it. Its chain contains Husam bin Misakk, and there is agreement that he is da'if (weak).
